Tra i membri più importanti del gruppo Nabis c'era il giovane Pierre Bonnard, un avvocato che univa il diritto al disegno e alla pittura. Dopo aver scoperto "Il Talismano" di Paul Sérusier, decide di dedicarsi stabilmente alla pittura e affitta uno studio a Montmartre. Adottò uno stile personale che sembrava reinterpretare l'impressionismo di Renoir e Monet, in cui la luce e il colore del midi francese lasciarono una forte impronta. Per più di cinquant'anni, dalla sua prima opera nota al pubblico, Pierre Bonnard ha inseguito il sogno di portare l'arte fuori dai musei, attraverso pubblicità nelle strade, su libri e riviste, attraverso illustrazioni e incisioni; voleva portare l'arte nella vita di tutti i giorni, nelle case, dove scorre la vita.
Among the most prominent members of the Nabis group was the young Pierre Bonnard, a lawyer who combined law with drawing and painting. After discovering "The Talisman" by Paul Sérusier, he decided to dedicate permanently to painting and rented a studio in Montmartre. He adopted a personal style that seemed to reinterpret the impressionism of Renoir and Monet, and in which the light and colour of the French midi left a strong mark. For more than fifty years, since his first work known to the public, Pierre Bonnard has pursued the dream of bringing art out of museums, through advertisements in the streets, on books and magazines, through illustrations and engravings; he wanted to bring art into everyday life, in the houses, where life flows.
